👍🏼Giant Ice-Bucket Challenge...

Good morning, Aggieland. November has arrived, and it finally feels like fall. I had my first piece of pumpkin pie yesterday, and now I can’t wait to put on my flannels.

Aggieland Against ALS
🧊 Ice Bucket challenges have been going viral for a decade, and that isn’t changing soon. Former Texas A&M football player Chris Larkin, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2022, helped rally the Aggie community for a record-breaking cause. Over 500 Aggies gathered on Saturday to participate in the largest campus-wide ALS ice bucket challenge ever, organized by Aggieland Against ALS, a foundation started by Larkin and his wife Cissy. The event, which included a fundraiser 5k followed by the massive ice bucket challenge, successfully raised an impressive $250,000 for ALS research and support.
THE DIGEST
Law Enforcement Against Cancer
👮♂️ Local law enforcement agencies across the Bryan-College Station area have joined forces for a heartwarming cause, launching their annual "Beard It Up and Color for the Cure" campaign to raise money for childhood cancer. The College Station Police Department, Bryan Police Department, Brazos County Sheriff's Office, and Texas A&M University Police Department are participating in this meaningful initiative that has already raised over $2,500 toward their $5,000 goal. Since its inception in 2018, the campaign has expanded to 24 states and generated more than $800,000 for childhood cancer research and support. As TAMU Police Sgt. Robert Leseth noted, "Everybody knows somebody who has been affected by cancer," highlighting why this cause resonates deeply with officers committed to supporting their community. Residents can contribute to this worthy cause through donations until January 8, 2026.
Big Event Sign-Ups Open
🌟 The Big Event is back, with signups now open for this beloved Texas A&M service day scheduled for March 21! Through this massive community service initiative, Aggie students express their gratitude to the surrounding community by volunteering for 4-hour shifts at various job sites. Residents interested in receiving help with projects (keeping in mind volunteers cannot use power tools, drive vehicles, or climb higher than 6ft) can register at bigeventonline.tamu.edu/resident/jobs/create. The Big Event is also offering special yard signs for $15 to promote this community-building day, with all proceeds supporting their operational costs.
