Hwy 6 Speed Limit Changes

🚗 College Station's city council has voted to reduce speed limits on State Highway 6 to ensure the safety of construction crews and drivers. The main lanes will drop from 70 mph to 60 mph, while frontage roads will see new limits between 40-45 mph. Emily Fisher, Director of Public Works, noted this is a standard safety practice requested by TXDOT, explaining that it's "pretty common to reduce the speed limits to five to 10 mph below the limit." The council unanimously approved these changes along with other agenda items including drainage improvements at Bee Creek and Emerald Forest, and revisions to housing regulations.
